St Helens CDG - Player Development Programme
St Helens District Cricketers (Boys and Girls) received a major boost this winter after being nominated by the District Coaches to take part in a Player Development Programme.
The programme was divided into two blocks of 8 weeks (by age group) organised and overseen by Chris Chambers (LCB Cricket Development Coach, St Helens) who was ably assisted by the St Helens District Coaches.
The programme was heavily subsidised by Sport England and gave the Players coaching to develop their game both technically and tactically. Sessions were also delivered to develop the mental and physical attributes of the game.
Specialist Coaches were brought in to deliver in specialist areas such as Spin Bowling, Seam Bowling, Batting, Wicket Keeping and Fielding, which was greatly appreciated by the children and their parents.
The programme also gave the District Coaches an insight into Coaching Techniques that take place at full County squad’s sessions.
This programme will have given the players extra confidence leading to the season allowing them to produce good performances and push for county honours.
