The LCB Coaches Association Conference was a huge success with over 100 cricket coaches from across the County attending. The delegates were provided with some excellent workshops from the LCCC coaching team.

Cricket Director Mike Watkinson, Head Coach Peter Moores, Academy Director John Stanworth, Strength and Conditioning Coach Alex Horn and Coaches Gary Yates, Jason Swift and Stephen Titchard all held workshops to illustrate skills, drills and techniques which can be used at all levels from child to professional.

Tony Potter (LCB Coach Education Manager) added: "I'm pleased more than 100 coaches attended our annual Coaches Conference. This year it was particularly pleasing that the county club coaching staff delivered excellent workshops and my thanks go to them for being very approachable and personable with all the cricket coaches."

Please find below some feedback received from delegates.

"My sporting background is athletics rather than cricket, so yesterday gave me so much confidence to coach, it was right on the money in my view. It also promotes a great bond between the amateur & professional game, which is in the best interest of us all, something some sports overlook these days." Alistair Phillips (Edenfield Cricket Club)

"Just to say how much I enjoyed today. I have spoken to a few fellow coaches, all of whom agree that we are very lucky to have access to professional coaches of the calibre of those there today. I think it says a lot about the game itself that these guys are prepared to give up their time in the way they do. You just can’t imagine coaches of their equivalent standing in football doing something similar." Ted Williams (Sefton Park Cricket Club)

"Many thanks for the opportunity to attend the Conference today - I think it was a terrific event that allowed me and the other Coaches to experience first hand the type of drills that are used and, that are very adaptable to all age groups. It also proved very helpful with the 'analysis' side of coaching. In addition to the above, I found it fantastic that I was able to speak on a personal level with Peter Moores, Mike Watkinson, John Stanworth, etc - nothing seemed to be of any trouble to them and, they appeared genuinely interested to help - indeed I raised a specific problem my 10 year old District player is currently encountering and, both Peter and John took time out to provide new ideas. It is the first of these events that I have attended and, certainly won't be the last!" Clive Carrington (Highfield Cricket Club)
