Ormskirk High Girls Continue To Dominate

From indoor to outdoor competition, Ormskirk keep on winning!

The first girls U13s outdoor Chance 2 Compete County finals was completed today at South Shore CC. With 5 teams taking part there was a round robin with a final between the top 2 teams.

Teams:

Rainford High

Lostock High

St Antonys High

Woodhey High

Ormskirk High

It was clear early on that Ormskirk were going to be strong contenders for top place here when they scored 93 in the first game beating Lostock by 60 runs. Some close games in the rest of the group meant there was a battle for second place between Woodhey, Rainford and Lostock. Woodhey managed to win 3 of their 4 matches, losing just to Ormskirk. This meant the final would be between Ormskirk and Woodhey with Ormskirk being unbeaten all day.

Due to the weather we had to curtail the final to 4 overs a side. This introduced some excellent running and well thought hitting by the Ormskirk girls. Woodhey grabbed an early run out but werent able to stem the flow of runs, Ormskirk posted an impressive 40 in their 4 overs. Unfortunately it was too much of s task for Woodhey and losing 2 wickets in the first over put them on the back foot. Even with a good final over from Woodhey they fell short of the 40 runs required.

Ormskirk High will go on to represent Lancashire in the Regional finals at York CC in July. We wish them the best of luck.
