Ormskirk School start 2014 summer with another girls cricket win!
National Chance 2 Compete Girls U13 winners in 2013 Ormskirk School qualify for Regional round.
Last week saw 5 schools taking part in the outdoor Chance to Compete girls U13 competition at Vernon Carus CC. Liverpool College, Tarleton Academy, Ormskirk, Urmston Grammar and Balshaws High School all headed down to the cricket club, some playing their first ever game of cricket! The sun shone and the girls had plenty of fun. The girls had a special guest present as Kate Cross, Lancashire & England Women fast bowling star attended to give some tips, umpire some games and present the trophy.
Some close games between Urmstone Grammar and Balshaws with just a handful of runs in it at times made the final standing close. However eventual winners, Ormskirk High were unbeaten over their 4 games racking up over 100 runs at times in just 7 overs! Ormskirk will now prgress through to the regional finals in July where they will continue to defend their National title.
Unfortunately the U15 competition was washed out on Thursday however this event will be re-arranged. This is the first year at U15 event has been run and we hope to get a county winner through to regional rounds to represent Lancashire. The U15 competition will be held at Longridge CC on 22nd May.
