Ormskirk School Success in West Lancashire
Schools from across the borough of West Lancashire enjoyed U13 and U15 Competitions on the 7th and 14th February at the St Bede’s CHS Cricket Centre, Ormskirk.
These local competitions formed part of the Lady Taverners Competition led locally by the LCB. Glenburn Sports College, Our Lady Queen of Peace RC High, Up Holland High, Lathom High, St Bede’s CHS and Ormskirk School were the competing schools having received coaching in the lead up to the competitions as part of Chance to Shine and West Lancashire School Sport Partnership coaching programmes.
The standard of competition was as high as ever and Ormskirk School came out winners at both age groups and will now progress to the County Finals an environment not unfamiliar to them having been present every year since 2009. Indeed the school has a history of success at county, regional and national finals with their best result being a 2nd and 3rd place finish at National Finals in 2011. Credit also goes to the other competing schools who put up admirable performances and continue to improve in terms of skill level and enthusiasm, it is hoped now that many of the girls will be linked to local clubs and the ‘West Lancashire District Cricket Girls’ programme.
