Winners Announced at LCB OSCAs 2014

Winners were announced at the sixth annual LCB Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards (OSCAs) celebration dinner on 4th July 2014 in The Point (Emirates Old Trafford). The evening was held in association with Audio Visual Sponsor Keyteq Presentation Services Ltd (Keyteq).

The OSCAs are aimed at recognising those volunteers in the recreational game of cricket who give so much of their time to the sport - without these individuals the game would not survive. The awards provide an ideal opportunity for supporting our huge army of unsung heroes, saying thank you and celebrating their success with them.

Winners Announced

Winners were announced for 9 different award categories for which nominations were received and short listed at a glitzy awards ceremony. There was also a special award in memory of Jim Kenyon who gave so much to Lancashire Cricket for many years as a coach and volunteer for the LCB.

Bobby Denning Managing Director of the Lancashire Cricket Board commented: “Congratulations go to the winners and nominees of the sixth OSCAs celebration. We have thousands of people who have devoted their lives to cricket and I would personally like to thank all our volunteers in Lancashire cricket, not just those honoured this evening. Many thanks also to our sponsors and personalities who have given their time to make this a memorable evening.”

Roger Phenton of Keyteq added: “As one of the leading Audio Visual and Presentation Services providers, we are delighted to support the LCB OSCAs celebration again. At Keyteq we are keen to support community events and this is a perfect match for us. We would like to congratulate all nominees, short listed candidates and winners for their commitment to their local communities.”

Whilst the LCB OSCAs Awards to volunteers took centre stage on the evening there was also some top drawer entertainment for the enjoyment of over 500 guests. Kevin Connelly, a brilliant impressionist and after dinner speaker was joined by M.C. Roger Dakin, a broadcaster and compere. Both kept everyone entertained and glued to their seats for the evening.

The winners in the asterisked* categories above are now considered as Lancashire candidates at the national OSCAs event sponsored by NatWest at Lord's later this year.

All proceeds from the evening will be invested back in to grassroots cricket across Lancashire.

Special thanks from all at the LCB go to Dave Hardman, LCB Business Support Officer, for organising a very successful OSCAs event.

Well done Mike Humphries you deserve this award as you have transformed the Winton ground with all your hard work. It is always a pleasure when you turn into the ground and see a picture postcard wicket and surrounds, Best wishes to you and all your helpers, Pete Rayson.
