Indoor Cricket Returns to Greater Manchester for Winter 2013/14
After a successful 2012/13 season where more than 18 clubs competed in graded LCB affiliated leagues and cup competitions, we return for another round of fast paced, boundary hitting action inside four walls!
Now set to be exclusive to cricket clubs and club players, the league at the newly adapted facility at The Soccer Factory in Rochdale will be the perfect setting for all club players, young and old to get their eye in before the start of the new season. With realistic Flicx pitches, match grade 4oz leather indoor cricket balls and qualified umpires provided, it’s everything a club player needs to hone their technique.
The season kicks off in early October with the seniors, the region's clubs will slog it out in 10 hard hitting rounds in graded divisions, where everybody bats and bowls. Clubs can also go in the hunt for silverware in the two cup competitions running throughout the season. The top sides from the league have the opportunity to take part in the regional playoffs for the National ECB Indoor Knockout.
In the New Year we welcome back junior players of all ages to take part in our leagues which are new for 2014, trophies and prizes are to play for but the emphasis is on enjoyment and match play outside of winter nets.
Clubs who become members of the league in 2013/14 also bag themselves 40 tickets to watch Lancashire Lightning in 2014’s YB50 competition.
We are running open day events, so your club can come and try out the facilities before the action commences!
Jasmine Titmuss (LCB Adult Participation Officer) said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for people to continue to participate in cricket over the winter period to enhance their skills in a different format of the game. The Soccer Factory has undergone some major developments this summer making it a fantastic venue to host indoor cricket in Greater Manchester. We hope to have another very successful winter with the competition, set exclusively to clubs, ensuring that the standard is of the highest calibre. As ever this is a very sociable game with lots of opportunity to progress into competitions and even a National ECB competition. The open day will attract a lot of interest in the area and will set the scene for the winter, so any clubs interested in participating please get down to the Soccer Factory on the 6th October and have a go."
