Last Man Stands is on the rise in Lancashire – join a league now!

Last Man Stands (LMS) is a social T20 8 a-side version of the game, where when the seventh wicket falls, the Last Man Stands on their own.

LMS is played throughout the summer on weekday evenings and Sundays.  It is a fantastic way for amateur cricketers whether they are current players, lapsed players or new players to enjoy a fast paced version of the game played locally to them.  As well as this, each player receives cricket statistics and world rankings online, which allows them to compare their performances with other last man stands cricketers from around the world at: www.lastmanstands.com.

For the 2014 season we have been able to offer clubs the opportunity to receive a fully funded Non-Turf Pitch through an offer in conjunction with LCB/LMS and the ECB. Not only does hosting LMS at a cricket club increase participation but it also impacts on player retention and revenue. A lot of hard work has gone into extending our current LMS franchises within Lancashire and the 2013/14 winter has been more successful than ever and has allowed us to build brand new franchises across the county. LMS has grown dramatically within Lancashire and is the perfect solution for a wider form of participation that clubs have been looking for.

In addition to being a new host venue for 2015, we are offering any clubs across the county the opportunity to host One Day LMS Tournaments during the 2014 summer. These days are a great way to get new players into your club, your lapsed players back at your club or to raise some extra revenue. If any club is interested in hosting such a day please contact Chris Newton on 07788 792518 or [email protected].

We are now looking for new teams and players to strengthen our new and existing leagues.  Please have a look at what leagues will be running this year and get involved!  You won’t regret it!

To add to these exciting developments, the Central Lancashire League’s representative XI will take on the Last Man Stands representative XI in the T20 recreational cricket showcase of the year!

On the 17th May 2014, Emirates Old Trafford is hosting ‘Trafford Day’.  This is part of The Lancashire Way project and will be a fun filled day for all.  The day is a partnership between the LCB, LCCC, LCCC Foundation and Trafford Council.  Kicking off the day at 2.15pm will be the LCB’s recreational showcase T20 match which will see the Central Lancashire League’s representative XI take on the Last Man Stands representative XI.  This game will be giving our club and LMS cricketers the chance to showcase their skills in front of a packed stadium at Emirates Old Trafford.  Following this, Lancashire Lightning will take on Worcester Royals in the first NatWest T20 Blast match of the campaign at 7pm in which Lancashire international players will be on show.  The FA Cup Final will also be shown at 5.30pm in between the two matches, with lots of other activities and entertainment throughout the day.

There will be ticket offers for all of our recreational and LMS cricketers across the county (more information will follow) so please get involved to support this fantastic day.
