Lancashire Disability Incrediball Squad opened their defence of the Incrediball National County Championship with a comfortable win against Yorkshire at Denton West CC on Sunday 13 May.

Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bat first. Lancashire’s openers bowled tight lines and were rewarded with an early wicket for Callum Savage trapping Yorkshire's opener LBW for 1 run. A small stand of 22 was then broken by the introduction of Stefan Holmes into the attack who tore through Yorkshire's top order returning figures of 4-15 off his 8 overs. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals with Usman Ahmed the only Yorkshire batsman to get runs with 57 leaving Yorkshire 95 all out off 35 overs. Best of the bowlers were Stefan Holmes 4-15 and Callum Savage 2-8. An excellent effort by all the bowlers who were backed up by some excellent fielding.

Lancashire’s reply got off to a solid start with openers Steve Kenny and Stefan Holmes compiling 58 before Stefan was run out for 29. Poor running cost Lancashire their next wicket as John Simpson was also run out with the score on 62. This brought in Pat Scott who lost Steve the next over LBW to Naeem for 16. Next in was Lancashire’s Captain Tony Foster and it was Pat and Tony who saw Lancashire through to the wining total of 96 with 14 overs to spare.

An excellent start to the season with all players contributing well in a good team display. Lancashire’s next game is away to Cheshire on Sunday 20 May at Barrow CC.
