Incrediball Squad defeat local rivals Cheshire
Lancashire continued their defence of the National Disability Incrediball County Championship with a convincing win over Cheshire at Barrow CC on Sunday 20 May.
Lancashire won the toss and put Cheshire in to bat on a green wicket. Lancashire’s bowlers Callum Savage and 15 year old Zac Green both bowled exceptional line and length beating the bat on numerous occasions without success and restricting Cheshire to 7 runs from 8 overs. Zac finished with figures of 4-2-5-0 and Callum 5-2-4-0. The introduction of Stefan Holmes began the flurry of wickets with Adam Wilson taking a great catch at mid wicket. Nigel Robinson then replaced Callum and simply tore through Cheshire’s line-up returning career best figures of 7-4-6-8 with Tom Garrity claiming the final wicket (3-1-5-1) to leave Cheshire reeling at 25 all out in just 24 overs.
A fantastic effort by all the bowlers who had great support from an excellent field display, but a special day for Nigel.
After a quick turnaround Lancashire started their reply but got off to poor start losing Stefan Holmes for 3 with the score on 8. Next to go was John Simpson bowled by England Physical Disability player Ronnie Abbot with the score on 17. Ronnie also accounted for Pat Scott LBW for 0. This brought skipper Tony Foster to the crease who along with opener Steve Kenny saw Lancashire home, Steve 18 no and Tony 0 no to win by 7 wickets.
A Fantastic win for the boys which was set up by an excellent fielding display and top class bowling.
Lancashire next game is away against Derbyshire on the 27th May at Darley Abbey CC.
