Jenny
I am very pleased to read your report about girls/ladies cricket which here in Lancashire is progessing strongly to a very good standard. What I have seen when umpring girls cricket has impressed me.
As I have recently been apponted Secretary of the Ribbledale Youth Cricket League I will be doing my very best to encourage all boys and girls to get involved in cricket. In Lancashire we have Kathy Cross, of Heywood, playing for England Ladies, and Alex Hartley of Read in my league at the Lancashire Accademy. This all points to a good future for girls/ladies cricket and I will be doing my best to support existing and new developments.
Keep up the good work Jenny, and please, keep us all informed during the winter months, its important.

Ted, thanks for your comments, its great news for Women and Girls Cricket to have a full time appointment. Hopefully the game will continue to thrive in Lancashire and we can work together to get some structured clubs for the girls and women to play at.
Continue your great work in the Ribble Valley and its nice to get some feedback of the standard of the games you have umpired.

Good Luck Jenny in your new appointment. You will be at the heart of things and have a great influence on developing girls and ladies cricket in Lancashire.

I know the girls are very keen, in some respects much keener than the boys, and from what I have seen in recent years girls cricket has a bright future.

It would be great to see some of our leagues encourage their clubs to produce teams and leagues and then perhaps inter league etc. One problem is what night would they play etc. But we do have girls and ladies playing in boys/mens teams so there is a future.

The fact that Lancashire have produced one lady cricketer for England, girls are represented in the Lancs academy and females are seen in all grades of male cricket tells me that it wont be too long before there is a structured game for girls/ladies within Lancashire. Keep up the good work Jenny, hope to see you during 2012.
