Lancashire Cricket Board: Brownlow named Young Player of the Year by The Cricketer Magazine Brownlow named Young Player of the Year by The Cricketer Magazine ================================================================================ Dipesh Asher on 27/09/2011 16:00:00 Chris Brownlow, Lancashire U13's all rounder has been named The Cricketer Magazine's Young Player of the Year. Chris, who plays his club cricket at Horwich RMI CC and represented Bolton District at U13 level, was the vice-captain of Lancashire U13s this season. He captained his school, Bolton School, to victory in the Lord's Taverners U13 Schools Indoor Cricket competition at the Indoor Cricket Centre (Old Trafford) in the winter / spring months. During April Lancashire U13s went on tour to Barbados where he captained the side. They won five of the six games played with his best bowling performance being a hat-trick against Deighton Griffith School. Chris continued his successes by scoring 106 for Bolton District U13s during the early stages of the competition. In the same match he also took 4 for 23 including another hat-trick. Other performances during the season included Chris scoring 130* in a match for his school and taking 5 for 13 in an MCC Spirit of Cricket U13s National Knockout game for Horwich RMI CC, who went on to win the County phase of the Competition. Bolton District U13s won the Lancashire District Final by beating Ribble Valley, thanks mainly to Chris’s 101* and 5 for 7. Chris has represented his school, club, district and county this summer, captaining 3 sides, scoring more than 1600 runs and taking almost 70 wickets. Shaun Anders (Lancashire U12 Coach) commented: "As his one-to-one coach, this is credit to the hard work he's put in over the past 2-3 years. I personally am very pleased to see him progress and be rewarded with this award. It will I'm sure inspire him to continue to work hard and perform well in future years to come."
