7 Champion Teams Celebrated

The Point on Wednesday 29 February 2012 celebrated 7 Champions from the 2011
cricket season.

Not only did the Lancashire County Cricket Club end their 77-year wait to win
the County Championship outright, but six other teams and clubs connected to the
County were also champions in their own right.
Peter Moores and the LCCC players were joined by    t h e  Lancashire under 13s
girls team and  t h e          Lancashire under 14s boys team ,   w h o  both
became national champions while the Lancashire Disability Incrediball squad and
the Lancashire Disability Hardball squad were also national winners.
Woodhouses CC were winners of the Persimmon National Village Cup and Team
Manchester were winners of National Last Man Stands Competition.
All these successful teams and clubs toasted their successes of 2011 at Old
Trafford on an evening to remember.
Andrew Hayhurst (Director of the Lancashire Cricket Board) said: "It was
excellent to see all seven successful Lancashire squads celebrate together and
to be honoured with the Lancashire County Cricket Club players at the evening.
What was particularly special was to see former Lancashire legends like Geoff
Pullar, David Lloyd, Peter Lever, Ken Shuttleworth, Jack Simmons, Warren Hegg,
Farokh Engineer and Jack Bond, to name a few, present and celebrate with all the
successful teams. This was a unique evening where we've had successes within
girls cricket, disabilities cricket, club cricket nationally and of course after
77 years the County Championship trophy coming to Lancashire."
