Results Wednesday 27 June v NORTH EAST WALES at BOOTLE CC LANCASHIRE 58 NORTH EAST WALES 49 Lancashire won by 9 runs This was a low scoring affair dominated by both bowling attacks. Lancashire were in deep trouble at 36 for 8 until partnerships between Josh Stamford and Max Perry and Stamford and Prahesh Parikh boosted the total by an invaluable 22 runs to 58. The second innings was a repeat of the first with wickets falling steadily. Amidst high excitement Ben Walkden (2 for 9) clean bowled the last NE Wales batsman for a close and hard fought 9 run win. Tuesday 3 July v WARWICKSHIRE at Bedworth CC Match Abandoned Tuesday 10 July v STAFFORDSHIRE at Wynnersley CC Match Abandoned Tuesday 17 July v YORKSHIRE at BURSCOUGH CC YORKSHIRE 144 for 6 Match Abandoned This game began in glorious sunshine but ended in the all too regular rainstorm. Yorkshire had just completed their 40 overs when the heavens opened. Those who were present would have been pleasantly surprised at the very high standards shown especially by the Yorkshire openers. UNDER 10 COUNTY FESTIVAL at KINGS COLLEGE, TAUNTON Saturday 21 July v BUCKINGHAMSHIRE LANCASHIRE 121 (Stamford 26 Rankin H 26 Rankin R 23*) BUCKINGHAMSHIRE 107 for 8 Lancashire won by 13 runs Sunday 22 July v EAST DEVON (U11) LANCASHIRE 77 EAST DEVON 78 for 2 East Devon won by 8 wkts Monday 23 July v CORNWALL LANCASHIRE 151 for 8 (Shah 42) CORNWALL 85 for 7 (Walkden 3-4) Lancashire won by 66 runs The entire Festival at Kings College was played in hot sunshine. All the messages from those present said that the first Under 10 team to play in this sort of Festival were a credit to Lancashire both on the field and off it. They won two of the three matches played with some excellent performances. The defeat was to a strong East Devon U11 team which had entered at the last minute following a withdrawal by another county. Many of these young players showed a great deal of promise for the future and certainly helped to emphasise the value of introducing this age group into our programme.
