Lancashire Cricket Board: New Women & Girls Section New Women & Girls Section ================================================================================ Dipesh Asher on 25/01/2012 13:04:00 The Women and Girls section of the website has been relocated to have its own tab on the top line! It’s an exciting time for female cricketers as the women's & girls game is evolving fast. The profile has been raised and Lancashire has its own Women and Girls Development Officer - Jenny Laycock. Under the new section of the website you will be able to view information on Senior County Squad, Junior County Squads and Grassroots Cricket for Women's & Girls. These sections will be updated regularly with the up to date news including player profiles, match reports, festival news, club updates and fixtures. Andrew Hayhurst (Director) commented: "The LCB is delighted with the appointment of Jenny as the LCB Women & Girls Cricket Development Officer. She is the first and dedicated officer to lead on development of women & girls and is a key role for us as we try to increase the number of women and girls clubs and girls sections. With a high volume of girls being coached cricket in schools through Chance to Shine programmes, there are currently not enough clubs and district teams for them to participate. With the England Women's team doing very well, this is an area we need to further develop. Jenny has been successful in her previous role with the LCB as the Fylde CDC. She is the current captain of the Lancashire Senior Women squad and the Lancashire Girls U13 Head Coach." Jenny Laycock (Women & Girls Cricket Development Officer) said: "I am now the main point of contact for Women and Girls Cricket in the County. This will encompass grassroots through Chance to Shine programme right up to liaison with the Performance Manager on EPP players. One of my main challenges is to get a good stable programme of matches for Senior Women cricketers in the County. This will initially be driven through a mid-week league to get teams up and running. The Chance to Shine programme will help clubs establish junior girls sections through myself coordinating a schools programme. I will also be raising the profile of the Senior Women's team, the first step in this is to create player profiles for all 1st X1 players over the next couple of months."
