Lancashire Cricket Board: Experience of a Lifetime Awaits the U19 Girls Experience of a Lifetime Awaits the U19 Girls ================================================================================ Jenny Laycock on 23/04/2012 17:18:00 14 players have been selected in an Emerging Players Group to head to Dubai in February 2013. An exciting opportunity is on the horizon for some of the County’s top U19 female cricketers with a trip to Dubai in February 2013. The trip will consist of 8 days in Dubai playing against a variety of Counties from England as well as UAE. This will be a very competitive competition giving our players the best preparation for their season ahead. The girls have been away before to South Africa in previous years and have gained a great deal from the tours. Dubai will be a different trip with different challenges for the girls to overcome. Tours away from home present the girls with challenges they wouldn’t normally come across playing in England including coping with weather conditions and being immersed in a team atmosphere. Women and Girls Development Officer Jen Laycock commented ‘ This is an excellent opportunity for the girls to play competitive cricket outside the season in excellent surroundings. It will allow the girls to see where they are up to in development stages before the season starts.’ We now have a huge task on our hands to raise the funds to enable the girls to attend the trip. So far the girls have planned car washes at OT on certain match days, bag packs, football cards and many more. They are however keen to work with any local businesses who would like to provide some sponsorship for the tour. If your business would be interested in supporting the girls please contact Jen Laycock jlaycock@lccc.co.uk. The tour party will be an Emerging Players U19 Girls team who consist of players from age 14 through to 19. Many of these girls are part of the 1st X1 training squad at present, some of them have played in 1st X1, 6 are part of the Emerging Players Programme at Lancashire and 4 are part of England Women Development Programme at U19 and U15 level.
