Lancashire Cricket Board: 24 hours of batting completed by the U19 Girls Emerging players 24 hours of batting completed by the U19 Girls Emerging players ================================================================================ Jenny Laycock on 24/09/2012 15:19:00 A sponsored Batathon concluded the girls season to raise funds for the trip to Dubai to take part in a festival 11 girls, 4 staff and a few helpful brothers stepped up to the plate to raise funds to get the girls to Dubai to take part in a pre-season tournament. The girls are heading out in February to play against various Counties in a high profile tournament. They have been fundraising in various forms from selling football cards, bag packing, car washing and donations from various parties. Along with this the LCCC Foundation have kindly donated £15000 to the tour. To say thank you to the Foundation many of the players gave up their time to help sell Foundation wristbands during the International T20 at Old Trafford. The girls set about a 24 hour batathon in the Indoor Centre at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. To complete the task the girls needed to bat constantly for 24 hours. This meant that over 10000 balls were hit over the 24 hours. The girls had gained sponsors from family, friends and cricket clubs over the last few weeks. The girls achieved their goal albeit sore hands and a few blisters! The girls and staff would like to thank all those who have sponsored them so far, the indoor centre for allowing us the use of the facility free of charge and also the extra players who came along to give a hand at times. If you are interested in supporting the girls in anyway, in particular we are looking for a shirt or kit sponsor, please get in touch with Andy Hayhurst on ahayhurst@lccc.co.uk.
