Lancashire Cricket Board: Lancashire Girls U19 - Match 3 Report Lancashire Girls U19 - Match 3 Report ================================================================================ Dipesh Asher on 21/02/2013 16:06:00 Match 3 : Lancashire vs Wales. Report by Jenny Laycock Women & Girls CDO. We travelled to the Dubai Sevens ground on a hot day to face Wales which would decide if we play in the 3rd and 4th play off or 5th and 6th play off. We lost the toss on a great looking wicket and were asked to field first. We grabbed our chance and got a run out in the 13th over, however the runs were flowing and some good running gave Wales the upper hand. Some missed chances also maintained Wales momentum who finished on 230 for 5. Nalisha Patel and Rachel Dickinson the pick of the bowlers. Ellie Threlkeld and Hannah Till set off well running well between the wickets but we lost Ellie for 8 and Hannah for 29. Jess Couser got going but fell for 20. Emma Lamb played a well balanced innings top scoring for us on 53. We lost wickets quickly after Emma was run out and only Nalisha Patel got a start finishing 17 not out. We finished 35 runs short on 195 for 7 off 40 overs. Players' and Coach match experiences Jen laycock - A hot day for the girls and this showed in the field with catches and fielding mistakes made. A match changing innings by Emma Lamb but the batters were unable to support her. We did however improve massively the lines we bowled and halved the number of wides. This result takes us into 5th and 6th play of on Saturday. Jess Couser - Captain. We showed positive intent whilst fielding but a few drop catches allowed their batters to settle and score big. We responded well with the bat posting a decent score but just needed one more person to score big to challenge the Welsh score. Overall a positive batting performance. Hannah Knowles - Although there was a gentle breeze it was little relief from the heat which made it hard work and exhausting in the field, however hard work and determination helped us through the overs. Bhumika Doshi - And I go in to bat with around 20 overs to go. I failed to rotate the strike, so I got anxious to score. This made me go down the track which I edged and the keeper caught and stumped me at the same time! Out twice in one ball!
