Lancashire Cricket Board: Lancs Women have double winning weekend Lancs Women have double winning weekend ================================================================================ Dipesh Asher on 16/07/2012 15:30:00 Lancashire Ladies have double winning weekend and 14 year old Nalisha Patel has astonishing debut. Lancashire Ladies secured back to back victories over the weekend, beating both Cheshire and previously unbeaten Worcestershire. Cheshire were defeated by 36 runs at Nelson CC on Saturday with Natalie Brown compiling an immaculate 69 runs in difficult batting conditions. Really tight bowling and fielding from the Lancashire team made it difficult for Cheshire and Lancs ran out worthy winners. The squad then travelled down to Worcestershire for Sunday’s game against the league leaders and again put on a terrific all-round display. Worcestershire were dismissed for 112 after being handily placed at 70 for 0. The highlights being a tremendous toppling catch in the deep from Hayley Martinus who followed that up by completing a stunning run-out a few balls later. Then 14 year old debutant off-spinner, Nalisha Patel came into the attack and finished with the incredible figures of 5 for 6. Lancs had to work hard for their victory but opener Jess Couser contributed 27 to a solid start and Laura Marshall finished off the match with some powerfully controlled hitting to finish on 33 not out. Next fixture for Lancashire Women is against Devon at Wigan CC on Sunday 22 July 11:00 start.
