Horwich CC make it a hatrick!!
On Sunday 15 July, Horwich CC were once again crowned the County U13s Club Champions of Lancashire.
This is the 3rd time in as many years that Horwich CC have took the title and will now go on to represent Lancashire in the Regional Quarter Finals and Semi Finals day in Northumberland at the end of the month.
The Lancashire final was watched by a healthy crowd and took place at Horwich CC (Bolton) with their opponents Leyland CC who have also been in the final of this competition for the past 2 years.
Having won the toss Horwich decided to take first use of the wicket, a steady start enabled Horwich CC to reach a healthy 99 for 6 from their 20 overs.
Leyland in reply lost 2 early wickets, a combination of very accurate bowling and outstanding fielding from the Horwich lads just never let the Leyland boys get in to their customary free scoring game. They lost regular wickets at key moments which meant that they ended up 19 runs short of their total.
Both teams played with great spirit and it was nice to see all the handshakes and camaraderie between the 2 sides.
David Fairbrother (Horwich CC Junior Head Coach) said: “I am proud of the lads and hope they can do well against the Cumbrian club in the next round of the competition.”
I would like to personally thank the officials for the day, Kevin Wilson and Simon Taylor, also Horwich CC for their work to get the game played and the catering staff for really looking after all who attended. Thanks also Leyland CC for playing their part in this year's competition.
The LCB would like to wish Horwich CC U13s and David Fairbrother the best of luck at the Regional stage.
