Its a busy time of year
After the success of the LCB OSCAs last Friday we move on to the business end of our LCB fixtures.
Our County youth teams are entering the final phase of matches to try and qualify for the national stages and we are about to embark on our two day festival. The rain does not help. It reminds me of the Festival here many years ago (more than I care to mention but it was 33!!) when the whole competition was washed out. In those days all matches were played on the two grounds at Old Trafford and I was devastated. The next time I played here I got a first ball duck.
Many youngsters will be going through the emotional ringer at this time of year as they start to "label" their season. I always advise them that they are only as good as their last game. So, in my case, my last game at Old Trafford was as Captain of Somerset, we won and I got 42 not out!! Things can improve.
Back to the OSCAs. A personal thanks to everyone for your support, whether as sponsors, organisers, partners or attendees. It was our best yet. Hardman pretends he hates the accolades and I hate saying it, but it is down to him really. The old Brucie lookalike does a great job! I presume he is planning for OSCAs 2012 already and probably has Posh and Becks signed up. Personally, I would prefer Cheryl Cole!!
