Week 6 Girls County Fixtures
Roses match U13s girls
Week 6 finished on a high with Lancashire U13 Girls beating Yorkshire at Unsworth CC on Thursday 14th June.
Winning the toss, Lancashire decided to bat first. Lucy Staunton-Turner fell early to a sharp catch by the keeper but Ellie Threlkeld and Natasha Fenton put a stand together and took the score up to 49 before Natasha was bowled. Ellie continued her good form and made 40 before being bowled. The lower order struggled to play off the back foot and chipped catches back to close fielders without scoring many runs. A solid effort from Erin Staunton-Turner, Georgina Bolton and Evie Priestley took us to a final score of 118 for 9 off 35. A defendable score on a slow outfield. Yorkshire started well but wickets began to fall and non of their batters really got going except Graves who scored 20. Some sloppy fielding from the Lancashire girls allowed Yorkshire to reach 96 for 8 off their 35 overs but they never looked like they would get close. Catching practice required for the Lancashire girls over the weekend before we face Cheshire on Monday at Barrow CC in Cheshire.
We welcome 3 new girls into the squad for training and some development work. They may feature in some of our fixtures and also attend the festival to Malvern. The 3 girls are from Clitheroe Cobras and play in the district team for Ribble Valley. The girls are: Eleanor Graham, Nicole Harvey and Saphina Stamford.
