Introducing John Heaton's Blog
Follow the Lancashire Schools Cricket Association (LSCA) Secretary's and LCB Board Member's blog here.
John is the current Secretary of the Lancashire Schools Cricket Association (LSCA) and a member of the LCB Executive. He is also responsible for the Levels of Excellence Scheme. His blogs will concentrate on the representative system at county and district level as well as looking at other LSCA activities.
His cricket playing career was spent entirely with Radcliffe Cricket Club where he was lucky to play with and against many great cricketing stars including Sir Gary Sobers. His involvement with LSCA began when he joined the staff of Radcliffe Secondary School in 1963 as the Head at the time was Chairman of the Association and roped him in immediately. Throughout his teaching career which ended in 2001 when he retired as Headteacher of Hayward School in Bolton he maintained his cricketing involvement. He became Secretary of LSCA in 1983. His son now plays for Greenmount CC and he was delighted to see his grandson selected as captain of the Lancashire Under 11 team this season.
