Have you ever had that feeling ??
That today was not going to be your day.
Well it all began yesterday very well for the Mount after Farnworth Social Circle won the toss and decided to bat and were 56 for 6. Enter Frenchie and the newly transferred Raki Mahmood. They gradually pushed the score up into the 80’s when in two successive balls from PJH Raki and then Frenchie were dropped. They stayed together and Social reached three figures. At this point Frenchie blasted one back at son number one striking him on the left instep. He went down like a sack of spuds and eventually had to leave the field. French and Mahmood continued their mayhem and Social eventually posted a total of 191.
Plon and Bomber opened steadily and reached 71 without loss when Plon was dismissed to be followed soon after by Bomber. The Mount were missing Postie Woolford and the Vicar Bowker – well he’s been to so many wedding this year !! They managed to reach 151 when the last wicket – a disastrous run out – fell. Raki Mahmood had at least six wickets and bowled extremely well indeed.
But when you have your main rivals at 56 for 6 you really should finish them off.
So it really was not our day at all and PJH was walking with difficulty – and of course would be the mainstay of Greenmount’s attack today at Little Lever in the Hamer Cup Final.
I hope that feeling about yesterday does not extend into today. Mind you at the moment it is raining.
