The county fixture lists have now arrived from the ECB

Guess what ?? Almost all the dates are on Sundays again. We can (we hope) change these dates by agreement with the other county. If the other county wants to be awkward then we will have to stick with the ECB dates. This is the time of the year I do not look forward to. When the bulk of the dates are sorted then I will ensure they appear on the LCB Website. Remember that from now on we are going to use the website to keep you all better informed. Unless there is an absolute need then there will be no more Levels of Excellence Newsletters.

Good to see that all the dates for the Development Squad Sessions have been sorted and communicated. As Steve Titchard has indicated those players who will be involved with the Emerging Players Programme will not be named until early December when the LCCC Academy players have been identified. It will be at the same time that we will be sending out letters indicating individual players status within the Levels of Excellence Programme for the season ahead in 2012.

Very interesting to find out how many of my readers have been following the Blogs from the Queen Vic. I even have the missus taking pictures of me for the top image for you to “guess” where I am. I said I would not bore you with further details but I cannot help but show you the line-up of coaches when we arrived in Haifa. The picture below shows just a section of the 32 we had that day.

Before departing on our cruise I had started to dig around in the archives as part of a major aim to try and update the potted history of LSCA that I did in 1997 to help celebrate our 75th birthday. Remember that in 2012 we will be 90. I hope to get that done fairly soon and will ensure I put some details on the Blog from time to time. I started by getting out my year book for 1997.

Lancashire Under 15’s won the National Final in 1997 with the following squad of players:-

Craig Fergusson (Capt.) (St. Wilfrid’s HS, Blackburn & Church CC)

Chris Barrow (Harper Green HS, Bolton & Farnworth Social Circle CC)

Paul Barrow (West Hill HS & Flowery Field CC)

Paul Bryan (Birkdale HS, Southport & Southport & Birkdale CC)

Adam Coates (St. Michael’s HS, Chorley & Blackrod CC)

Anthony Edden Our Lady’s RC HS, Royton & Milnrow CC)

Chris Evans (Wkt) (Sharples HS, Bolton & Bradshaw CC)

Robert Fletcher (Birkdale HS & Southport & Birkdale CC)

John Hardiker (Penwortham Priory HS & Vernon Carus CC)

Carl Hey (Parrenthorn HS, Prestwich & Prestwich CC)

Graeme Hill (Hollingworth HS & Milnrow CC)

Christopher Kellett (Lostock HS, Trafford & Urmston CC)

Sandip Kotecha (Manchester GS & Heaton Mersey CC)

Rana Malook (Manchester GS & Longsight CC)

Nick Murrills (Manchester GS & Bowdon CC)

Joseph Rahim (St. Bede’s College, Manchester & Heaton Mersey CC)

Sam Reidy (Mt. Carmel HS, Accrington & Enfield CC)

Stuart Swann (Longdendale HS & Mottram CC)

The Under 15 "B" Team which played in the Ampleforth College Festival in 1997 saw a certain player emerge and begin to make his mark. He was :-

James Anderson (St. Theodore’s HS & Burnley CC)

I am hoping to be able to compile list of teams for as many of the years that I have been involved as LSCA Secretary but may need some help.

John I reckon you are on the promenade deck somewhere on a ship on a high sea with a setting sun.

That row of coaches reminds me of the local 'wakes' weeks. Nowt changes, just the country and the reason for the line up. Doesnt look like a 'Le Mans' start though.
