Cricket Club Security Support from Greater Manchester Police
The Lancashire Cricket Board and Greater Manchester Police have been disturbed to hear that a number of cricket clubs in the Greater Manchester area, have been targets of thefts and burglaries.
The thefts seem to be well organised and have included cutting alarm lines to immobilise them and use of heavy duty bolt cutters cutting through safe metal padlocks to get into storage units and steal expensive ground equipment.
The Greater Manchester Police Crime Prevention Team has offered their support and help to Cricket Clubs within the Greater Manchester area.
Download a security self-assessment document and the first part should be completed by somebody in a managerial position at the club.
Send the completed security self-assessment document to the Crime Prevention Team at [email protected].
Upon receipt of the document the Crime Prevention Team will assess the information provided and will contact the club to give some site specific security information. A Crime Reduction Specialist from the team will arrange to visit and carry out a bespoke site survey if required.
The Crime Prevention Team will continue contact the National Police Crime Reduction Forum, to ask if they are aware of any issues on a national basis and will feedback to the LCB in due course.
Cricket Clubs within the Greater Manchester area, particularly those that have been affected by previous burglaries, are advised to take up this kind offer. This offer doesn’t extend to clubs based in Merseyside and Lancashire, however we hope something similar could be offered by Crime Prevention Teams in those areas in the future.
There have been a few articles published on this website (please click on links below) advising clubs about recent thefts and general security and clubs are advised to have a look these and raise it at their general club committee meetings.
