L&DCC Entertain Isle of Man Colts
The Med Imaging Liverpool and District Cricket Competition breaks new ground next week with the visit of the Isle of Man Colts cricket team to take part in a three day series of matches between the two organisations.
The Isle of Man Cricket Association with its senior side currently in ICC Division One are looking to extend opportunities for their younger up and coming players to gain wider and much needed valuable experience.
They will take on three teams made up from L&DCC Colts on Tuesday 16 July at Wallasey CC, Wednesday 17 July at Liverpool CC and Thursday 18 July at Alder CC. All games start at 1pm.
Cricket Development Officer for the Isle of Man, Gareth Dawson, sees this as a significant addition to the Island’s Cricket Development Programme. He said: “This is a great opportunity for our boys to experience cricket in a top level environment and everyone is really looking forward to the trip. Developing a relationship with an ECB Premier League will really help us as we constantly try to improve cricket on the island.”
John Williams, L&DCC Chairman, is delighted with the arrangement. He added: “It works both ways. The games present the Comp lads with a tremendous opportunity to test themselves in a new environment and format and we are trying to involve as many players as possible, particularly those who have not experienced cricket at County level. The series has generated a lot of interest and the League is grateful to the three Clubs and their Officials for hosting the games.”
