The Lancashire Cricket Board's Performance Manager Stephen Titchard believes that opportunities are better than ever for outstanding young cricketers in the Lancashire area to play for the county's junior representative teams.

In addition to their main squads, which nornally comprise of 12 players, Lancashire have launched development squads comprising 12 additional players at every age group from Under 11 to Under 15 for Boys and Under 15 for Girls and the former Lancashire batsman is excited by the chances they offer good young cricketers.

"There are now more opportunities for good young district and club players in and around Lancashire to progress," said Titchard. "We've started assessments for all squads and although that process is under way, it is by no means closed. If young players perform well in district programmes, places can still be available."

The county's main junior squads already play in festivals across the country on a regular basis but the Under 12, 13 and 14 development players are also due to play in festivals at Bedford, Brighton and Taunton this summer.

"Anybody who thinks they coach or have seen a good young player should contact their LCB Cricket Development Co-ordinator or ring the LCB on 0161 282 4021," said Titchard.

Players can only play for the LCB teams if they were born in Lancashire, go to school in Lancashire or play club cricket for a Lancashire club. Hope that helps

Do you have to have played for your district to be able to play for Lancashire?
