Umpiring Courses 2013-14

The LCBACO have the following Umpires courses for 2013-14 programme.

ECBACO Level 1 - Understanding the Laws

This course is 12–16 hours duration and consists of six modules designed for those who intend to umpire regularly, or those that wish to acquire a better knowledge of the laws of cricket. Aside from covering the key laws in detail, it also deals with the basic techniques of match management. No prior knowledge is required.

ECB ACO Level 1A - Understanding the Game

This course is 12-16 hours duration and is available to all umpires who have successfully completed L1. Level 1A is not intended to be a taught course but more of a facilitator-led, participative programme which introduces the umpire to self-appraisal and an understanding of the game beyond just knowledge of the laws. It bridges the gap between the knowledge based Level 1 course and the field craft and techniques based Level 2 course.

ECB ACO Level 2 – Developing the experienced Umpire

Lancashire ACO will be holding a Level 2 course in the New Year. Level 2 is a demanding course for umpires who aspire to and are considered competent enough, to stand in Premier League cricket. The course includes 2 days of classroom activities, a programme of self assessment, a minimum of 2 boundary observations, conducted by trained observers and a final assessment discussion. Candidates should have passed Level 1A or equivalent.

Level 2C

Level 2C is a course designed for Umpires who have no desire to progress to Premier League and existing Premier League Umpires who want to use it as a refresher. The content of the course is the classroom element of a full Level 2 course but does not include the observation programme or the professional discussion.

The course will be run over 2 Sundays in the new year (dates to be confirmed). On completion, the County will present candidates with a certificate of attendance.

Candidates will not be able to upgrade to a full Level 2 at a later date from this course.

The cost of the course will be £25.
