RESULTS

MAIN COUNTY TEAM

Wednesday 19 June v CHESHIRE  (N. Counties) at CHORLEY CC

LANCASHIRE 187 for 5 (Lavelle 72* Dewhurst  32)

CHESHIRE 163 for 9 (Muhammad 3-15)

Lancashire won by 24 runs

This was an excellent game played in good spirit. The Lancashire innings began very slowly on a far from easy pitch and after 30 overs the score was just 60 for the loss of three wickets. There followed excellent innings from George Lavelle (72 not out) and Charlie Dewhurst (32) with the final total 15 overs later reaching 187. The Cheshire reply began slowly but as with the Lancashire innings the middle order began to strike the ball well and the score moved along. Wickets began to fall at regular intervals however and Ahmad Muhammad’s spell of 3 for 15 and wickets late on from Charlie Dewhurst saw Cheshire complete their overs 24 runs adrift.

Thursday 27 June v STAFFORDSHIRE (N. Counties)at Audley CC

LANCASHIRE 196 for 9 (Lavelle 51 Pearson 38)

Match Abandoned

Tuesday 2 July v YORKSHIRE (N. Counties) at Collingham CC

LANCASHIRE 209 for 7 (Udwadia 74 Gray 53)

YORKSHIRE 146 for 7 (Halstead 5-8)

Lancashire won by 63 runs

Lancashire continued their winning ways in the Northern Counties Cup with this win over Yorkshire. The Lancashire innings was dominated by Rehan Udwadia (74) and Daniel Gray (53). Yorkshire’s reply was going along quite nicely until Joe Halstead came into the attack. His spell of 5 overs, 1 maiden, five wickets for eight runs put paid to their chances.

Sunday 7 July v NOTTINGHAMSHIRE (N. Counties) at NORTHERN CC

LANCASHIRE 155 for 5 (Udwadia 57* Halstead 40)

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE 37 (Muhammad 4-4)

Lancashire won by 118 runs

Lancashire continued their winning ways in this Northern Counties match with Rehan Udwadia tops coring with 57 not out. Joe Halstead (40) contributed with the bat this time. The Notts reply never got going as they finished all out for 37 after 32 overs. Macca had 4 for 4.

Thursday 11 July V DERBYSHIRE (Friendly) at Clowne CC

DERBYSHIRE 72 (Pearson 3-13)

Lancashire won by 152 runs

Victory in this Final game in the Northern Counties Cup group matches ensured the Under 13’s would be in the Final of the competition. Their opponents will not be known until Cheshire have played Yorkshire at the end of this month. Brad Fielding (88) and Rehan Udwadia (78*) shared a big stand and Lewis Dove took a hat trick in the Cumbria response.

Harry Rylance and I went to watch the U13s Main Team in their cricket festival at Kings College, Taunton, as keen supporters of LSCA. The team played excellent cricket and were a joy to watch, they were fine ambassadors, both on and off the field, of the LCB. As were the management and coaching people (Steve Bullcock, manager, Dave Leighton & Bobby Cross, coaches and Dave Smith scorer). Every member of the party gave their best at all times. We look forward to the future of these young cricketers for we feel that their development will reveal some very promising players. In keen anticipation. Colin
