LANCASHIRE 187 for 5 (Lavelle 72* Dewhurst  32)

CHESHIRE 163 for 9 (Muhammad 3-15)

Lancashire won by 24 runs

This was an excellent game played in good spirit. The Lancashire innings began very slowly on a far from easy pitch and after 30 overs the score was just 60 for the loss of three wickets. There followed excellent innings from George Lavelle (72 not out) and Charlie Dewhurst (32) with the final total 15 overs later reaching 187. The Cheshire reply began slowly but as with the Lancashire innings the middle order began to strike the ball well and the score moved along. Wickets began to fall at regular intervals however and Ahmad Muhammad’s spell of 3 for 15 and wickets late on from Charlie Dewhurst saw Cheshire complete their overs 24 runs adrift.

Harry Rylance and I went to watch the U13s Main Team in their cricket festival at Kings College, Taunton, as keen supporters of LSCA. The team played excellent cricket and were a joy to watch, they were fine ambassadors, both on and off the field, of the LCB. As were the management and coaching people (Steve Bullcock, manager, Dave Leighton & Bobby Cross, coaches and Dave Smith scorer). Every member of the party gave their best at all times. We look forward to the future of these young cricketers for we feel that their development will reveal some very promising players. In keen anticipation. Colin
