Lancashire Under 13 (Boys) - Season 2013
The Under 13 age group will again have a main County Team and a Development team.
They will have a busy programme before heading down to Taunton or Ardingly College, Sussex for Festivals in the same week. The main County Team will have a mixture of Friendly matches alongside five games in the newly created ESCA Northern Counties Cup competition. The ECB Cup of previous seasons has gone and this new version involved 45 over matches between Lancashire and Cheshire, Cumbria, Notts, Staffs & Yorkshire. The ESCA sponsored Final will be played on September 1st.

Lancashire won by 24 runs
This was an excellent game played in good spirit. The Lancashire innings began very slowly on a far from easy pitch and after 30 overs the score was just 60 for the loss of three wickets. There followed excellent innings from George Lavelle (72 not out) and Charlie Dewhurst (32) with the final total 15 overs later reaching 187. The Cheshire reply began slowly but as with the Lancashire innings the middle order began to strike the ball well and the score moved along. Wickets began to fall at regular intervals however and Ahmad Muhammad’s spell of 3 for 15 and wickets late on from Charlie Dewhurst saw Cheshire complete their overs 24 runs adrift.

Lancashire won by 63 runs
Lancashire continued their winning ways in the Northern Counties Cup with this win over Yorkshire. The Lancashire innings was dominated by Rehan Udwadia (74) and Daniel Gray (53). Yorkshire’s reply was going along quite nicely until Joe Halstead came into the attack. His spell of 5 overs, 1 maiden, five wickets for eight runs put paid to their chances.

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE 37 (Muhammad 4-4)
Lancashire won by 118 runs
Lancashire continued their winning ways in this Northern Counties match with Rehan Udwadia tops coring with 57 not out. Joe Halstead (40) contributed with the bat this time. The Notts reply never got going as they finished all out for 37 after 32 overs. Macca had 4 for 4.
Thursday 11 July V DERBYSHIRE (Friendly) at Clowne CC

Lancashire won by 79 runs
After the opening set of four Northern Counties matches this opening friendly added another win for the Under 13’s.

CUMBRIA 87 (Halstead 4-9 Smith 3-9 Dove 3-9 inc. Hat Trick
Lancashire won by 152 runs
Victory in this Final game in the Northern Counties Cup group matches ensured the Under 13’s would be in the Final of the competition. Their opponents will not be known until Cheshire have played Yorkshire at the end of this month. Brad Fielding (88) and Rehan Udwadia (78*) shared a big stand and Lewis Dove took a hat trick in the Cumbria response.

This was an emphatic win with Charlie Dewhurst hitting a maiden century and Macca Muhammad taking 7 for 8 in just 4.4 overs

This was the first outing for this team and they performed well. Thomas Heaton was outstanding with the bat ending on 83 not out. He was well supported by Lewis Bailey and Isaac Lea in stands of 78 and 40. The Warwickshire team contained some county players and in particular the opening batter. The Lancashire team hung on and were very close to victory with just one over remaining.

EAST YORKSHIRE 74 for 8
Lancashire won by 129 runs
On a boiling hot day East Yorkshire won the toss and decided that Lancashire could bat. Tom Heaton continued his fine form with 75 runs and was well supported by Isaac Lea (61). The East Yorkshire reply never really got going and they ended on just 74 for 8 after their 40 overs.
