Lancashire Under 14 (Boys) - Season 2013

The Under 14’s will compete in 2013 in the Yorkshire Bank 45 Over Competition.

Unlike previous seasons there will be no final stages leading to National Champions. The points gathered will be added to points gained in 2011 as Under 13’s to determine the Under 15 Leagues in 2014. There will again be a Development Team. In 2014 the Main County team will go to the Inter-County Festival at Scarborough College with the Development Team replacing them at Kings College, Taunton.

RESULTS

MAIN COUNTY TEAM - YORKSHIRE BANK CUP (45 OVERS)

Thursday 13 June v Durham at Darlington Railway Academy CC

DURHAM 144 for 7 (Smith 3-27  De’Ath 3-28)

LANCASHIRE 134 (Howard 36)

Durham won by 10 runs

This was a disappointing start to the Yorkshire Bank Cup with defeat away to Durham. Good bowling from Cameron Smith and Connor De’Ath restricted them to 147 off their 45 overs. We struggled to get going with only James Howard (36) making any impression. We fell short by just ten runs.

Sunday 23 June v YORKSHIRE at New Rover CC, Leeds

LANCASHIRE 149 (Oldham 70)

YORKSHIRE 142 for 9 (Oldham 7 for 10)

Lancashire won by 7 runs

This was without doubt Sam Oldham’s day. His impressive knock of 70 helped to take us to a total of 149 runs on a wicket offering help to the bowlers. When called upon to bowl he ripped the middle out of the Yorkshire middle order leaving them on 80 for 8. A ninth wicket partnership gradually edged Yorkshire nearer to our total when Sam returned to the attack to break the partnership and seal the victory.

Sunday 30 June v LINCOLNSHIRE at FLEETWOOD HESKETH CC

LANCASHIRE 194 for 7 (Oldham 82 Park-Johnson 38*)

LINCOLNSHIRE 175 for 7 (Lawson 4-30)

Lancashire won by 19 runs

Sam Oldham continued his fine form with the bat and he was well supported by James Park-Johnson. Lincolnshire made a brave attempt falling just 19 runs short at the end.

Wednesday 3 July v DERBYSHIRE at LITTLEBOROUGH CC

LANCASHIRE 160 for 5 (Oldham 48* Park-Johnson 36)

DERBYSHIRE 163 for 5

Derbyshire won by 5 wkts

Sam Oldham and James Park-Johnson again emerged as the top scorers’ but the final total was perhaps a little short. This in fact proved to be the case with Derbyshire passing the total with five wickets in hand.

Thursday 18 July v NOTTINGHAMSHIRE at Radcliffe on Trent CC

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE 170 (Lawson 3-14 Bretherton 3-18)

LANCASHIRE 174 for 8 (Cornall 55 Bretherton 36*)

Lancashire won by 2 wkts

Tom Lawson (3 for 14) and Ross Bretherton (3 for 18) helped to limit the Notts total to 170 on a very hot day at Radcliffe on Trent. Our reply took some time to get going but eventually we passed the Notts total with two wickets in hand. Taylor Cornall had 55 and Ross Bretherton ended on 36 not out.
