Lancashire Women seamer Kate Cross took six wickets as England defeated Australia during the sole Test in the Women's Ashes series in Australia.

The bowler bowled superbly to record figures of 6/70 in the match - her debut - to help England win by 61 runs.

The victory gives the Three Lions a 6-0 points lead in the Ashes aeries, ahead of the one-day internationals which commence on Sunday.

Captain Charlotte Edwards said: ""Anya (Shrubsole) always wants the ball and bowled fantastically well. She got the rewards in this Test match. In England she didn't get the rewards she deserved but here she's definitely got them.

"Kate Cross on debut - what a fantastic effort and Nat Sciver also on debut as well. These girls are coming into international cricket and performing straight away which is great to see."

Jasmine Titmuss, Lancashire Women's captain, was delighted with her team mate's performace and said: "Kate has been Lancashire’s number one seamer since she broke into the squad at the age of 13. She had a fantastic season last year and fully deserves her chance to play for England. She has proved herself and stamped her mark in the squad and an excellent achievement in her Test debut in Australia. Our young, developing Lancashire squad are going to benefit tremendously having Kate’s skill and experience she has gained since breaking into the England squad and I am thoroughly looking forward to our exciting season ahead and seeing Kate shine for England for many years to come."
