Lancashire South Win Fit 4 Health U15s Regional Festival
Lancashire South defeated Lancashire Central West to lift the Fit 4 Health U15s Regional Festival.
The match was played at Fylde CC yesterday, Thursday 29 May.
Lancashire South won the toss and elected to bat first. It wasn’t a great start as Rankin and Williams went in the first few overs. Bretherton and Threlkeld steadied the ship putting on 30 for the next wicket when Threlkeld was run out. O’Brien and Oldham came to the crease putting on 60 for the next wicket which helped Lancashire South reach 100. O’Brien was the next to go, again run out but Oldham carried on from where he left off yesterday piecing together an excellent 100 in difficult conditions. He was well supported by Callum Robinson Brooks who scored a handy 24 and enabled Lancashire South to post a good score of 190 for 5 off their 50 overs.
Lancashire Central West had a similar start to Lancashire South losing their first two wickets for 12 runs. Butt and Baldwin put on an excellent partnership of 85 before Baldwin was stumped by Threlkeld of Bretherton (Baldwin finishing with 33). Butt carried on putting the Lancashire South bowlers under pressure and made 52 before being bowled by Hartley. Wickets fell at regular intervals but a brief cameo by Heaton (26) put the pressure back on Lancashire South. But they responded with excellent bowling and holding on to important catches. Milnes (10-4-25-1), Bhalla (10-0-30-1) bowled well with Moulton (8.1-2-21-3) being the pick of the bowlers and finished the Lancashire Central West innings on 169 bowling De'ath for 5.
