Lancashire Under 10s - New For 2012
Cricket in Lancashire breaks new ground this year with the introduction of a County Under 10 Boys Squad.
The Lancashire Cricket Board, together with the Lancashire Schools Cricket Association and the Lancashire County Cricket Club, currently provides and manages county age group cricket from 11 to 19, successfully underpinning the County’s recent Championship success.
Now, with significantly increased participation at a younger age level and the constant quest within the County to identify and develop young talent, boys in Year 5 at Primary School and below are in line to benefit from the Lancashire Cricket experience.
With an equal emphasis on training and development, the 2012 squad will play a limited number of matches culminating in participation in a Three Day Festival in Taunton competing against Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Cornwall.
Stephen Titchard, LCB Performance Manager, said: “The time is right to extend the County coverage. As a result of investment and a lot of hard work amongst Cricket Development Groups and local cricket clubs all around the County, more youngsters than ever before are playing the game. We have the infrastructure to begin the process at an earlier age and look forward to an exciting and successful first season.”
Nominations are currently being sought through Cricket Development Groups around the County with a closing date of 29 February. Cricket Development Managers along with the Cricket Support Officers and Cricket Development Coaches will be supporting this process. Clubs with talented players in this age group are urged to contact their area Cricket Development Manager to find out more.

This will give our young boys and girls match experience so that we can play in the County under 10's.
One club in our league, Clitheroe, begin coaching young children at four years of age and they have a very successful youth section. Their under 13's are off to Dubai for a week's tour in April and are due to play some 'international' cricket.
RYCL would like to wish LCB/LSCA every success in their new venture and I am sure we will be there supporting.
