Lancs Over 50s Go Top
Lancashire's victory on Wednesday 17 July against rivals Yorkshire put them top of the group.
After a slow but solid start to 114 when Glenn Bullock out for 66, a quick fire 58 from captain John Punchard looked to be taking the home team to 300. The departure of the watchful Mike Ingham for 56 brought together John Partington 36 and Tony Bennett 15, but the loss of these two slowed Lancs up and they closed on 285 for 7.
Yorkshire set off like a train to chase down the target and raced to 80 off 15 overs. The first wicket fell at 120 in the 20th over. The introduction of Lancashire's slower bowlers did the trick and Yorkshire folded from 245 for 5 to 262 all out. Chris Dearden with figures of 5 for 41 supported by Nigel Doyle's 1 for 38, Mike Ingham's 1 for 42 and Keith Roscoe's 2 for 55. Wicket keeper John Partington also contributed with 2 stumpings and a catch.
Lancs are now in the last 16 against Gloucestershire. This fixture was due to take place on Wednesday 31 July at Bamford Fieldhouse CC, however it was cancelled due to waterlogged pitch. The tie will now be played on Wednesday 07 August again at Bamford Fieldhouse CC start time 13:30.
