The LCB work closely with the Lancashire Girls’ District Cricket Partnership (LGDCP) – Junior Girls Cricket and Lancashire Women’s Cricket Association (LWCA) - Senior Women’s Cricket for the development of women and girls cricket within the County.

The LCB also work closely with clubs with junior girls sections and supports schools through a Chance to Shine promotion programme. The aim is to have a clear pathway for girls from grassroots through to England Women. The LCB supports this pathway at various points and aims to get girls and women playing cricket at many levels.

What we are doing with girls cricket

The LGDCP supported by the LCB are working with all Cricket Development Groups (CDGs) to look into the development of girls cricket through schools and clubs, with an opportunity for the girls to play in an U11, U13 and U15 Junior Development Competition.

The aims of the competition is to provide girls from these age groups a clear pathway for them to continue playing competitive cricket against their peers; that it complements the work that already takes place within schools, clubs and districts by the LCB and its partners; and it provides girls with a structure in which they could continue their development, competing against each other and providing them with confidence and the motivation to carry on in the sport, ultimately becoming more involved in the women’s game.

It would not be possible to develop girls cricket to the extent that we hope to achieve, without working in partnership with our Cricket Development Groups and various other partners involved. We have a great opportunity to strengthen Girls’ and Women's cricket and we hope that we can work together to create a thriving environment for girls to play cricket in Lancashire for the foreseeable future.
