U19 Girls Fundraising Car Wash and Media Day
A sunny day and Lanky the Giraffe greeted the Lancashire U19 Girls Emerging Players when they began their fundraising efforts at the first car wash.
Sunday 6th May saw the Lancashire U19 Girls Emerging Players take on their first fundraising task at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. With Lancashire playing Leicestershire Foxes in the Clydesdale Bank 40 and Manchester United taking on Swansea a full car park was expected! A Car Wash was the task in hand and the girls organised themselves into teams, set about washing cars. They even managed to persuade some of the players to allow the girls near their cars! An excellent fundraiser but most of all a great team building exercise with different groups of girls working together throughout the day. Well done to all the girls and especially the parents who rolled their sleeves up and gave us a hand. Thank you to all the people who entrusted the girls with washing your car!
Earlier that day Simon Pendrigh from the MEN photography team came over and took some media photos of the squad, individual shots and some group photos. We also managed to persuade Tom Smith and Glen Chapple to have their photos taken with the squad. These photos will be used on posters when the girls embark on fundraising part 2, Bag Packing at various supermarkets throughout the County. These photos are in the photo gallery at the side. Thank you to Simon Pendrigh for taking the time to do these.
The aim of this fundraising is to raise the necessary funds for 14 Under 19 girls who have been selected in an Emerging Players Group to head on a tour to Dubai in February 2013. To find out more about the tour visit: Experience of a Lifetime Awaits the U19 Girls.
