Lancashire Girls U19 - Match 2 Report

Match 2 : Lancashire vs Scotland. Report by Jenny Laycock Women & Girls CDO.

A cloudy day greeted us and even a spot of rain for our Day Night game under flood lights at the Dubai College Ground. After losing the toss we were asked to bat which suited us quite well. We got off to a shaky start losing a couple of early wickets but a partnership between Hayley Martinus and Bhumika Doshi got us to 151 after being 60 for 6.

Bhumika started us off well with an early wicket caught behind by Ellie Threlkeld followed by a catch by captain Jess Couser off Nalisha Patel. Numerous wides bowled by all the bowlers meant the total crept up without the batters needing to score. 3 late wickets by Jess Couser and some tight bowling by Laura Marshall kept us in the game till the end. Rachel Dickinson kept her head at the end and took an important wicket. Scotland finished 14 runs short all out.

Players' and Coach match experiences

Emma Lamb - I found it a different and exciting experince to play under lights. We found it difficult as a team to adjust our eyes and to field under lights.

Rachel Dickinson - I bowled at the death and although there was pressure I didn't feel it because of the team's support. It was hard to get used to the strange light in the field when the ball came in the air.

Jen Laycock - playing under lights was a great exprience for all the girls. They reacted well to the conditions and came out with a win. Main goal for game 3 vs Wales is to improve our lines when bowling to reduce the number of wides.
