Coaching Inspires Girls from Blackburn

Jenny Laycock, Women & Girls Cricket Development Officer for the LCB, has treated Year 5 & 6 girls at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Blackburn to some fantastic cricket coaching.

Over the current term Years 5 and 6 girls have been coached by Jenny, learning the basics of cricket of how to bowl, field and bat. Some of the girls have enjoyed the sessions so much that they now attend extra-curricular cricket sessions on a Monday evening in the school gym.

Jenny said: "It’s been a pleasure to work with the girls over the last half term. They have embraced cricket, played with a smile on their face and developed lots of new skills, all of which are key messages through our Chance to Shine project. Some of these girls are now able to access girls cricket locally as East Lancs CC who have set up a women and girls section right on the doorstep of the school, which is fantastic news for these girls. I hope to see some of them down at these sessions as I saw some future stars in this group of girls, well done and keep going!"
