Derek Morgan has been appointed the Lancashire Women’s First Team Head Coach for the 2013 season.

Derek has just started his ECB Level 4 and will take over from Jonathan Finch. He is a Cricket Development Coach based in North Trafford and Head Coach of the England MLD squad. He has a wealth of experience in the women's game having coached the Lancashire Girls U15s for a number of years. In 2012 the U15s reached the ECB National finals stage coming 3rd overall.

Jenny Laycock, Women and Girls Cricket Development Officer and Women’s 1st X1 captain commented: "Derek has worked with many of the up and coming 1st X1 players in his time with the U15s squad. He is aware of the new players coming through and the way in which the current squad need to train to enable us to get the most out of every player. I’m sure Derek will enjoy the role and the girls will react well to his style of coaching. I am looking forward to an exciting 2013 season."

Derek accepted the role and commented: “I am thrilled to accept the role as Head Coach of the Women’s senior squad at a really exciting time in the development of the Women’s and Girls’ game in Lancashire. Coming off the back of the junior squads’ national successes this season it appears the game is in a healthy state and translating this success to the senior squad in the coming years is a challenge that motivates me.”

Tony Potter will continue in his role as Women’s First Team Manager and Assistant Coach. He has seen the squad develop over the last 2 years and has valuable experience at this level.

The LCB would like to thank Jonathan Finch for his hard work in 2012.
