Lancashire Women start the campaign on a high
1 from 1 = a good start for the girls
The 2013 season for the Women started on the right foot with an 8 wicket win over Cheshire Women.
The sun was shining at Barnton CC and the Lancashire girls came out with determination to start well in 2013. We have gained Georgia Holmes, right arm bowler from Cumbria (in the EWDP U19s) but have lost left arm spinner Alex Hartley to Middlesex.
Captain Jasmine Titmuss started well winning the toss and electing to bowl first on a hard but grssy wicket. Titmuss and Cross bowled some tight overs and a wicket a piece left Cheshire 16 for 2 off 14 overs. Another quick wicket with the introduction of spin left Cheshire struggling on 24 for 3. Wickets were hard to come by over the next 15 overs however runs weren't flowing. 92 for 5 quickly turned into 101 for 10 with the last 5 wickets shared between Fairclough and Laycock.
Cross 7 overs 1 for 19
Titmuss 7 overs 1 for 3
Laycock 7 overs 4 for 6
Holmes 5 overs 0 for 12
Doshi 1 over 0 for 11
Marshall 4 overs 0 for 27
Brown 6 overs 1 for 13
Fairclough 4.5 overs 3 for 7
Set a score of 101 Lancashire set off at a good pace with Marshall and Lamb putting 23 on before Marshall fell LBW. Lamb and Laycock set about reaching the target, putting 72 on between them before Laycock fell with Lancashire needing just 6. Brown and Lamb completed the run chase within 21 overs, a great start to the season girls.
