Alex Davies named the “Cedric Rhoades Player of the Season” for 2009
15 year-old Alex Davies received the “Cedric Rhoades Player of the Season” Award for 2009 at Wednesday’s Lancashire Cricket Board (LCB) Development of Excellence Presentation Evening. All-rounder Davies, who plays his club cricket for Darwen CC, bats at number 3 and keeps wicket for Lancashire’s U15’s and was this year selected for England’s U15s as a batsman only.

The LCB and Lancashire Schools Cricket Association (LSCA) held their End of Season Awards function for their Representative Youth teams in the Gold Marquee at Old Trafford, with over 350 players and parents in attendance.
Trophies were presented to those players who have achieved significant milestones during the season including centuries, 5-wicket hauls, hat-tricks and outstanding wicket-keeping performances (see the recipients of Trophies below). Lancashire’s Cricket Director Mike Watkinson, Head Coach Peter Moores and Captain Glen Chapple all took part in the ceremony.
Throughout the season, every player’s results, whether for their representative team, school or club were recorded in the “Level of Excellence Database”. At the end of each month, Lancashire’s Academy Director John Stanworth would analyse this data and select one player whose performances stood out from the pack. This person was named the “LCB’s Player of the Month” and they are as follows;
Monthly Awards
Player of the Month - June
ALEX DAVIES
Player of the Month - July
JACK DEWHURST
16 year-old Jack plays for Lancashire’s U17’s and is a member of the ECB’s EPD U16’s Development squad. Jack plays his club cricket for Clitheroe Cricket Club.
Player of the Month – August
Due to adverse weather during this month and the amount of matches not played, it was deemed unfair to present an award on such little cricket played.
