LCB Knock Out Cup Final Preview and Match Guide

The 46th LCB Knock Out Cup Final will feature Lowerhouse CC of the Fosters Lancashire League against Ormskirk CC of the Liverpool Gin Liverpool & District Cricket Competition.

Lowerhouse Cricket Club is based in the west end of Burnley and was formed back in 1862, originally to provide leisure time for local mill workers. They became a founder member of the Lancashire League 30 years later in 1892.

Ormskirk Cricket Club in West Lancashire was established in 1835 and were also a founder member of the Liverpool Competition in 1892.

Lowerhouse are the first club from the Lancashire League to reach the final and will want to do well against Ormskirk who have been previous winners on 2 occasions (1999 & 2014). In the league they are sitting in 6th place in Lancashire League's Division A having played 20, winning 9, losing 7, whilst Ormskirk sit top of the ECB Premier League having played 19, won 13 and lost 3.

Lowerhouse's route to the final has seen them defeat Great Harwood, Farnworth Social Circle, Rochdale, Clitheroe and local rivals Burnley, whilst Ormskirk have overcome Northern, Vernon Carus, Haslingden, Prestwich and Ramsbottom.

Ormskirk have also reached the Royal London National Club Knock Out Final after beating Wolverhampton Cricket Club last weekend in the semi and will play Wanstead & Snaresbrook CC from Essex on September 17th.

Paul Bryson, Clubs and Leagues Manager of the Lancashire Cricket Board, said: "This year 68 clubs have taken part in the LCB Knock Out Cup Competition, the largest ever, coming from 10 leagues, with 8 x 2016 league champions being seeded for the first time in the competition.

"I look forward to welcoming both teams and their supporters for the final which returns to the home of Lancashire Cricket at Emirates Old Trafford on Sunday 3rd September. It should be an exciting occasion and I wish both clubs the very best."
