The Lancashire Cricket Groundsmen’s Association (LCGA) was inaugurated in 2004 under the umbrella of the Lancashire Cricket Board (LCB) and the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Paul A Tatton based at Haydock CC and Ian Mather-Brewster at Middleton CC were invited operate as pitch advisors for the LCB and tasked to assess facilities as part of clubs’ needs for funding.
Our role is to help and advise fellow Groundspersons to improve playing surfaces and consistency in turf management practices.
The LCGA is now a fully constituted group which has regular meetings and talks about management of cricket grounds. The current membership exceeds 200 clubs and individuals – several Leagues have joined ‘en bloc’.

- Comprehensive written and verbal ground and facility reports including soil sample (pH) and corrective fertilisation.
- Access to various programmes and schemes by Rigby Taylor.
