Stephen Titchard appointed as Performance Manager

The LCB are pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Titchard as the new LCB Performance Manager to be based in the LCB offices commencing Monday 8th March 2010. Stephen, who has combined a professional coaching role with Lancashire County Cricket Club with that of Head Coach for the LCB, leading on the Emerging Players Programme (EPP), will now extend his duties and take on further responsibilities primarily around the Levels of Excellence Scheme and County Squads.
Andrew Hayhurst, LCB Director, said: "This role is vital to the LCB and the future of quality young cricketers coming through the junior player pathway to represent Lancashire at county level right the way through EPP and hopefully onto the Academy. The LCB are hugely indebted to John Stanworth, Academy Director and John Heaton, LSCA Secretary, who have developed this system and produced many young players over the years. It is felt that we needed to take this a step further now at the U11 to U16 age groups to ensure that we meet the quality requirements and are proactive in ensuring our teams and individuals have the best chance to succeed. "Titch" is a quality coach and popular figure at Old Trafford and he has a great opportunity to make a mark in developing the next generation of Lancashire players. John Stanworth will, of course, continue to deal with the U17 to U19 age groups as well as the Academy. I am hugely grateful to the LCB Board, Mike Watkinson and Peter Moores in helping get this post in place."
Stephen still retains some duties with the professionals here at Lancashire as the Professional Batting Coach and Mike Watkinson is pleased that he continues to form part of the professional coaching staff.
Mike Watkinson, Cricket Director, commented:" The appointment of Stephen in this position is a very positive move and reinforces the strong partnership that exists between the LCB and the County Club. There will still be scope for him to assist Peter Moores’ coaching team and this will be beneficial for both the professional batters and his own development as a specialist coach. We are committed in our efforts to develop elite cricketers to represent the County and England. The creation of the Performance Manager position strengthens the system that enables this to happen."
