Lancashire Disability Incrediball Squad Retain National Title
The Lancashire Disability Incrediball Squad retained the ECB / BACD National County Championship on Monday 17 September beating Somerset at the County Ground Derbyshire.
Somerset won the toss and elected to bat. They scored 128 all out from 38.4 overs thanks to top scorer K Cosens with 72. Lancashire bowlers Calum Savage 1 for 13 off 5 ,Alan Foster 2 for 13 off 8, Stefan Holmes 4 for 28 of 7, Steve Kenny 2 for 8 off 2.4 and Pat Scott 1 for 2 off 2 the wicket takers.
Lancashire’s reply started badly losing S Kenny (1) and Z Green (1) with only 3 on the board. Skipper T Foster was the next to fall (6) with C Savage following for 8 to leave Lancs 40-4. A good partnership of 30 between opener N Robinson and Pat Scott pushed the score to 70 before Pat fell (13). Next to go was J Simpson (3) followed by S Holmes (9) leaving Lancs on 89-7. This brought player coach & manager A Foster (16no) to the crease who along with opener N Robinson (36no) saw Lancs home with 2.3 overs to spare. This sparked off scenes of jubilation as the team ran on to the pitch.
Whilst Lancashire have played better this season it is a fantastic achievement to retain the title and bodes well for the future. All credit must go to the players for their passion and commitment this year and to assistant coaches Tony Foster and Rick Holmes for their patience and skill.
Bobby Denning (Cricket Development Manager) said: "On behalf of the LCB, I'd like to congratulate the Lancashire Disability Incrediball Squad on retaining the Title. This is the result of hard work and dedication by the players, coaches and volunteers that support the squad throughout the season. Here in Lancashire our Disability Cricket programmes are constantly growing and I'm pleased the successes of these programmes are clear to see. I hope we can continue buidling upon these successes and programmes in place."
