Lancashire Girls Reach The Next Level
3 Lancashire girls have been added to the England Women’s Development Programme at U15 level along with 3 girls at U19 level.
In Lancashire girls’ cricket is going from strength to strength. Alongside having team success we now have more individual success. After trials at Loughborough, the National Cricket Performance Centre, 3 of our County girls have been selected to be part of the England Women's Development Programme Winter U15 Squad.
The girls selected at U15 level are:
Rachel Dickinson: Right arm medium pace opening bowler who has represented U15, U17 and Lancashire Women’s 1st X1 (T20) in 2012. Rachel is a capable batter and takes regular wickets at U15 and U17 age groups. She took 12 wickets at just 2.45 with a best of 3 for 8. She plays her club cricket at Ormskirk CC in the junior sides, 3rd X1 and Women’s mid-week teams.
Hannah Jones: Left arm orthodox spin bowler, right hand bat. Hannah has been part of the Lancashire National Championship winning team at U13 level two years running and has represented U15 in 2012. She regularly takes wickets as well as bowling tight overs which has won games. 23 wickets this season, a best of 4 for 10, doubling her wicket haul from 2011. Hannah plays her cricket at Denton St Lawrence CC and for Hyde Women.
Eleanor Threlkeld: Right Hand Opening bat and wicket keeper. Eleanor only took wicket keeping up a year ago but has done an excellent job behind the stumps at U13 and U15 Development levels. Eleanor has also played in the full U15 squad as a batter. She had a tremendous 2012 season, captaining the U13s and like Hannah Jones part of the Lancashire U13s National Championship winning teams two years running. She scored her maiden half century and made inroads into the U15 side. Eleanor plays her club cricket at Rainford CC and represents St Helens Women in the mid-week league.
The girls will receive 3 weekends of training at Loughborough in the National Performance Centre during January, February and March 2013.
The girls recognised at England Women's Development Programme at U19 level are:

Nalisha plays her club cricket for Horwich RMI CC junior teams and Bolton Ladies.
Emma Lamb (14): An opening batter, medium pace bowler. Emma is the current LCB Young Player of the Year for Girls for the season 2012 after a run filled season finishing with 717 runs and an average of 47.8. Emma made her Women’s 1st X1 debut this season scoring 62 vs Netherlands. Emma plays her club cricket at Vernon Carus CC in the junior and senior teams and plays in their Women’s senior side.
Jenny Laycock (LCB Women’s & Girls Cricket Development Officer and Lancashire Women’s Captain) said: “A fantastic achievement for all these girls to be recognised at this level. It’s the result of hard work during the winter and putting it into practice during games. The girls at U15 level had to go for a trial which is always a daunting experience however they reacted well to the pressure and performed on the day. Nalisha and Emma are still U15 however they have progressed to represent the U19s squad as a result of an excellent season. I wish Alex the best of luck out in Australia, where she is playing for Boxhill CC and has already been in the wickets.”
Congratulations to all who have been selected and the LCB hopes they make the most of the opportunities this now offers.
