Sam Oldham Named Yorkshire Bank Under 14 Player of the Season
After winning the LCB Development of Excellence Player of the Month Award for June, Sam Oldham discovered today that he had been chosen as the Yorkshire Bank Player of the Season for the Under 14 age group.
In 2013 the Yorkshire Bank sponsored the three ECB age group competitions at Under 14, Under 15 and Under 17. They have teamed up with Gray Nichols to pick a Player of the Season at each of these age groups.
Sam’s performances for Lancashire U14s in 2013 have been excellent including a match winning display against Yorkshire when he scored 70 and then took six wickets for just 10 runs. Sam has been invited to the Yorkshire Bank Trophy Final between Glamorgan and Nottinghamshire at Lord's on Saturday September 21st to receive his award from Alistair Cook. This will also involve equipment from Gray Nichols. When Sam and his parents heard the news, they were naturally highly delighted and are looking forward to their day at the Home of Cricket.
Sam plays his club cricket for Leyland Cricket Club and goes to Balshaws CE High School in Leyland.
John Heaton, LSCA Secretary, said: "This is splendid and well deserved news for Sam who has had an excellent season with the Under 14 team contributing to its success on a number of occasions both with bat and ball. I hope that he and his family have a great day at Lord's."
During his visit to Lord's Sam was interviewed by the ECB. Please find below a video of his interview.
