John Holder, former Test Match and First Class umpire, made a special appearance at an LCBACO umpiring course.

John who has umpired 11 Test Matches, 19 ODIs and countless first class county matches, gave an inspirational talk at the recent LCBACO umpiring course that took place at BAC (ee) Preston CC. He spoke to the candidates about how he got into umpiring and offered the next generation of umpires some hints and tips on successful umpiring within local leagues and clubs.

John now lives in Rochdale and continues to umpire in local leagues here in Lancashire.

John Smith, Chairman of the LCBACO, said: "John is truly inspirational to all of us umpires and scorers. He has been very supportive of the work we do at the LCB Association of Cricket Officials, which is to develop and provide opportunities to everyone who may be interested in umpiring and / or scoring. He lives locally for us and we are grateful for his time and efforts in assisting to develop the next generation of officials."
